Khalsa College Students Visited Kissan Mela at Rauni

Post Graduate Department of Agriculture, GSSDGS Khalsa College Patiala, organized one day academic visit to Kissan Mela at Rauni, Patiala. Students were familiarised with the latest equipments and innovative techniques of farming which were beneficial for the agriculturists. They were given information about the functioning of Rotavator, Electrical Sprayer, Seed cum Fertilizer drill, Rotavator cum Seed Drill, Fruit fly trap and Evaporative cold storage. They were updated with the recent developments on the usage of these machines. These equipments preserved the nutritive value and enhanced the shelf life of fruits and vegetables, the students were told. They were also acquainted with the usage organic fertilizers and pesticides. They were also told about the preservation of fruits and vegetables as well as improved hybrid varieties of horticultural and cereal crops.

Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha, Principal, GSSDGS Khalsa College, appreciated the efforts made by the Department of Agriculture to fortify the students on the practical side along with theoretical knowledge. Such visits empowered the students and made them more skillful, he said.

Prof. Rajdeep Singh Dhaliwal, Head, Department of Agriculture said that such visits were essential for the holistic development of the students. Prof. Mohinder Lal Singh, Prof. Sandeep Singh and Prof. Navjot Kaur accompanied the students.
