Khelo India Asmita Women’s City League Cycling Event-Anjali, Harleen, Ishpreet, Kiran, Palak, Sukhmanpreet, Seema clinches top positions

*Anjali Clinches Top Position in Women Elite Category; Harleen Kaur Wins Gold Medal in Youth Girls Category*
*Ishpreet Kaur Secures First Position in Sub-Junior Category; Kiran Yadav Second and Sehajpreet Kaur Third
*In Junior Category, Palak Finishes First, Sukhmanpreet Kaur Second and Seema Third
With the cooperation of the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), Khelo India (Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India), and the District Cycling Association, Fatehgarh Sahib, the unique Asmita Khelo India Women’s City League – Road Cycling Event was organized near the Market Committee Office, Sirhind, Punjab.
In today’s competitions, in the Sub-Junior category, Ishpreet Kaur secured first position, Kiran Yadav second and Sahajpreet Kaur third. In the Junior category, Palak secured first place, Sukhmanpreet Kaur second and Seema third. In the Youth Girls category, Harleen Kaur secured first position, Damanpreet Kaur second and Rani third. In the Women Elite category, Anjali secured first place, Angel Bhatti second and Manya third.
Chairman of the Market Committee Sirhind, Gurvinder Singh Dhillon, attended the event as the Chief Guest. He awarded medals to the winners, encouraged all participating girls, and appreciated the efforts of the organizers.
Dhillon stated that such sports competitions are extremely important for youth, especially girls, as they provide numerous opportunities to progress in life. He said he is always ready to support such initiatives and appealed to the organizers to conduct more sports events so that youth can be connected with sports and the menace of drugs can be eradicated from its roots.

On this occasion, Member of the Athletes’ Commission, Cycling Federation of India (CFI), international cyclist and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Awardee, Jagdeep Singh Kahlon, said that dedicated efforts are being made day and night for the promotion of cycling in Punjab. Various district cycling associations of the state are organizing more and more cycling events to take the sport to greater heights.
Kahlon added that under the Khelo India banner, this initiative aims to empower girls through sports and encourage grassroots participation in cycling in both urban and rural areas. The Asmita Women’s League is an important step towards gender equality and aligns with the vision of a healthy and active India.
Inspector and national sportsperson Kashmir Kaur also presented medals to the winners and, while sharing her sporting experiences, motivated the girls to work harder and bring glory to themselves and the state.
District Sports Officer, Mandeep Kaushal thanked the District Cycling Association for organizing the event and shared valuable tips for success in sports with the athletes, encouraging them to work with greater dedication. He said that the Sports Department is working tirelessly for the development of sports in District Fatehgarh Sahib, and positive results are being achieved.

International cyclist Bakshish Singh, national cyclist Satinderpal Singh, senior basketball coach Rahuldeep Singh, Event Nodal Officer from the Education Department Rooppreet Kaur, Placement Officer Jaswinder Singh Bassi Pathanan, national hockey player and sports teacher Harpreet Kaur, sports promoter Jasbir Singh Mohali, Harmanpreet Singh Khanna, Pargat Singh Ludhiana, Jaspreet Singh Sirhind, along with office bearers of the District Cycling Association and a large number of sports enthusiasts, were present to make the event a grand success.
