Kite fest organized in Barnala to motivate voters

To motivate and sensitise the voter of Barnala, district administration Barnala organized a ‘Kite Fest’ here at Baba Kala Mehar Stadium under Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program. Participants were given special kites with voter awareness slogans written upon them to spread the message of voting.
While inaugurating the fest, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Tej Partap Singh Phoolka said that the kite fest has been aimed to spread awareness among voters of Barnala district. He added that besides making aware to the participants, the kites would also motivate others after being cut from the ties.
Phoolka said that the district administration has been committed to provide unbiased and peaceful atmosphere during the voting process. He added that to bring transparency in the voting process, the VVPAT machines have also been introduced by the Election Commission of India and teams under SVEEP were also training Barnala residents about the working of the machines.
Besides the kite fest, the Barnala administration also encouraged the voters in a local mall as some Punjabi singers and Film artists appealed them to cast their vote without any fear or greed. Punjabi Singer Pammi Bai, Actor-cum-singer Karamjit Anmol, Actor Hobby Dhaliwal, Actor Parkash Gaadu and Rupinder Rupi motivated the audiences with their own artistic style to actively participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
On this occasion, SSP Harjit Singh, SDM Sandeep Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Karamjit Singh, SP Sukhdev Singh Virk, DSP Rajesh Chibbar, EO Parvinder Singh, AD Vijay Bhaskar, DSO Jaspreet Singh, Bhupinder Barnala among various others were also present.
