Weapon and equipment display, “Know your Army”, for the general public of Bathinda district was organised by Chetak Corps on Monday in the National Fertilisers Limited (NFL) complex.
The display was organised with a view to enlighten the public about the defence forces and to encourage the youth to join the Armed Forces.The event show-cased army battle equipment and it was largely attended by students of different schools of Bathinda and nearby areas.
The event was attended by people from different walks of life and the inquisitiveness and enthusiasm to see the weapons and equipment on the inventory of the army was evident during the conduct of event.
The display provided an opportunity to all to have firsthand experience of witnessing infantry weapons, armoured fighting vehicles, communication equipment, Air Defence guns, artillery guns, radars, various other equipment and adventure activities used by the Army.
A number of stalls were setup to share information about recruitment and medical services, for the knowledge of youth and the parents. The weapon and equipment display was well received by populace and attended by students of large number of schools and colleges. District administration and general public appreciated the conduct of the event, as such these events provide an opportunity to the society to learn about their Army and be proud of.
The ‘Know Your Army’ campaign is aimed at providing students and the people of the city to have a glimpse of weapons being used by the forces and to make them familiar with the Indian Army.
The display gave a unique opportunity to the students of the institutes and of different schools to get an up-close and personal rendezvous with different weapons and equipment of Indian Army.Army officials, who were present at the expo, explained to students about the weapons and cleared their doubts.
