Iqbal Singh Lalpura, member of the BJP Parliamentary Board, has strongly criticized the arrest of Bikram Singh Majithia, questioning the intentions of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab. He stated, “If the government had solid and lawful evidence, why hasn’t it been made public yet? And if there’s no evidence, then this arrest seems like nothing more than political revenge.”
He asked, “Why was the government silent for three years? Was the law asleep all this time, or has it suddenly woken up under the pressure of electoral politics?” He also reminded everyone that AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal had once apologized to Majithia — so what is the real motive behind this sudden action now?
Dr. Lalpura pointed out that multiple SITs have been formed over the years, yet no credible or transparent evidence has emerged. This clearly indicates that in Punjab, the law is being used as a tool for political vendetta. He said that Bhagwant Mann has not only failed as a Chief Minister but has also failed as a Home Minister.
Lalpura condemns vigilance action against Bikram Majithia. He warned that Punjab today resembles the state of Emergency in 1975 — where the government’s true aim is to intimidate and suppress its opposition. He added that any action driven by political motivation weakens democracy. Justice must prevail — firmly and fairly, but without bias.

Dr. Lalpura emphasized that if Bikram Singh Majithia is indeed guilty, he should receive the harshest punishment — the law must apply equally to all. However, he raised a crucial question: Why has there been no action yet against the four AAP MLAs facing serious allegations of corruption? Is the law only meant for the opposition, while the ruling party enjoys immunity? This double standard is a betrayal of the people of Punjab and raises serious doubts about the impartiality of the judicial process.
