Law Department of Guru Nanak Dev University Sets Benchmark in Legal Internships

The Law Department of Guru Nanak Dev University has witnessed remarkable growth in its internship program over the past year, showcasing its dedication to providing students with practical legal exposure. This success has been made possible through the support of alumni from various bar associations, judicial officers (retired and serving), and the dedicated efforts of the department’s faculty and student committees.

Dr. Bimaldeep Singh, Associate Professor and Internship Coordinator said that during the Winter Internship 2024, 24 students interned at the Advocate General’s Office, 4 undertook judicial internships, 62 worked with High Court advocates, 24 gained experience at district courts, and 28 participated in legal aid programs. The Summer Internship 2024 further expanded opportunities, with 3 students interning at the Supreme Court, 33 with High Court advocates, 8 in judicial internships, 35 at the Advocate General’s Office, and 16 at district courts.

For the upcoming Winter Internship 2025, the program will see 31 students placed at district courts, 9 at the Advocate General’s Office, 1 at the Supreme Court, and 13 with High Court advocates. This continuous progress reflects the department’s commitment to enhancing students’ practical learning experiences. The Law Department’s collaboration with the legal fraternity from PHHC and Amritsar has been instrumental in this journey, setting a benchmark in legal education.
