Lohri Mela begins at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Bagh Rupnagar

Rupnagar Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav inaugurated the three-day Lohri Mela at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Bagh Rupnagar on Thursday .This fair is being organized by the district administration Rupnagar and District Red Cross Society.
On this occasion Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav told that the heritage of our state is very rich. She said that with brotherhood and mutual harmony, we can lead a happy life and guide the future generations as well. Hence heritage conservation is the prime need of the hour and heritage fairs keep us connected with our rich heritage.
Dr. Yadav said that there is no difference between daughters and sons and the various initiatives taken by the government such as Beti Bachao, Beti Padha programmes have proved to be very meaningful and today daughters are not only equal to sons in every field but have gone far ahead.
She appreciated the officials and other organisers who chalked out the programme in this regard and said that such programmes will be conducted in the future as well.
She said that Red Cross Society works to help the needy in the society. She said that along with helping the needy, efforts are also necessary to make them self-reliant and continuous work is being done in this direction by the district administration and the Red Cross.
In this fair, ITI Rupnagar and school children presented Cultural presentations On this occasion, a play on drugs was also presented by Kranti Kala Manch of Nehru Yuva Kendra.
The children of Shivalik School also made kites with different colored papers and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav lit Lohri bonfire .
Lohri Mela begins at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Bagh Rupnagar. In this fair, apart from the food stalls, stalls have also been set up by various departments and swings have also been set up for the entertainment of children.
