L&T Nabha Power Limited bags coveted Golden Peacock Award 2020 for Excellence in CSR

Nabha Power Limited, which owns and operates the 2x700MW supercritical Rajpura Thermal Power Plant, has won the National Golden Peacock Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) award 2020 under the Power Generation category. This award has been conferred for NPL’s outstanding achievements and demonstrating the highest level of commitments for CSR activities.
The Golden Peacock Awards Secretariat had received over 319 application, out of which 119 were shortlisted through a three-tier assessment process. The quality of shortlisted entries evidenced the amount of commitment to strive for excellence and desire to maintain a high level of quality to achieve world-class status. The results of the award were announced on Thursday by Jury Chaired by Justice M. N. Venkatachaliah, former Chief Justice of India, who is also a former Chairman of National Human Rights Commission of India and National Commission for Constitution of India Reforms.
Golden Peacock Awards were instituted in 1991 by the Institute of Directors (IOD), India and is regarded as a global stamp of excellence in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility. The assessment group comprised of corporate social responsibility and human resource management experts who picked up the applicants based on an exhaustive set of parameters.
On the achievement, CEO of Nabha Power Ltd., Athar Shahab said, “We are grateful for the recognition. This prestigious award is a testimony to the impact made by our CSR team that works closely with the local communities in diverse areas that include skill building, infrastructure development, water conservation, healthcare, sanitation and education. As a responsible corporate citizen, we shall continue our efforts in these areas.”

Nabha Power Limited scored highest in its respective category and was selected by the jury as one of the best companies running elaborate programmes for the social upliftment of local communities through its CSR initiatives.
