L&T’s Nabha Power won The Oscars of the power industry- Asian Power Awards-2020

L&T’s Nabha Power Limited won the most prestigious award of power industry,Independent Power Producer of the year-India by Asian Power Awards-2020.

This award has been conferred for NPL’s outstanding achievements in plant performance and its commitment for innovations and taking new initiatives for improving plant efficiency. Through these initiatives NPL has achieved best net heat rate and the lowest auxiliary power consumption in India. NPL competed with global power generating companies and demonstrated leadership for its sustained performance.

Asian Power awards dubbed as ‘The Oscars of the power industry’, recognises ground-breaking projects and trailblazing initiatives in the power sector in Asia Pacific region. The Asian Power Awards is organised by the Charlton Media Group, a leading business information group with offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, and the Philippines. The company publishes in print and online key business magazines for the region, both country based and regional trade publications.

Speaking on the Occasion  Athar Shahab, Chief Executive, said ‘this is reaffirmation of our sustained business excellence practices being adopted at NPL. NPL, a wholly owned subsidiary of L&T, operates a 2 x 700 MW coal based supercritical thermal power plant at Rajpura, Punjab. NPL’s 100% capacity is tied through a 25 years Power Purchase Agreement with Punjab State Power Corporation Limited. The Plant was commissioned in February 2014 and has received several International & National awards. The plant operates at the highest PLF in Punjab and provides the cheapest power amongst all the TPPs in the state.
