Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would preside over a function to mark the 550th Parkash Purb celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji at Sultanpur Lodhi on November 9.

Addressing a Gurmat Samagam as part of the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Sahib at Asansol in West Bengal today, the SAD President said the President would preside over the main event on November 12 while various chief ministers and Home Minister Amit Shah would preside over a function being held on November 11. He said functions would be held at the holy city of Sultanpur Lodhi from November 1 to November 12 as part of the 550th celebrations.

Inviting the West Bengal ‘Sangat’ to visit Sultanpur Lodhi during the celebrations, the SAD President urged them to visit Sri Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan also. He said the Kartarpur Corridor would be opened on November 9 and devotees could avail this opportunity to visit Sri Kartarpur Sahib also.

Sukhbir Badal also urged the Sangat to do their utmost to propagate the message of Guru Sahab of “Naam Japo, Kirt Karo and Vand Shako”. He urged Punjabis to work to expose the new generation to the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji and work to make them a part of their day to day life. He said the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) were also doing their utmost to make the 550th Parkash Purb celebrations a great success.

Earlier in the day Skuhbir Singh Badal tweeted thanking the Prime Minister , Home Minister and NDA govt for reviewing and releasing all Sikh prisoners , who have either served full term or have been forced into unlawfull under extenuating religious and emotional circumstances.
