In a major breakthrough, Patiala Police have cracked the about one and half year-old murder mystery of two minor siblings by arresting the mother Manjit Kaur and her lover Baljit Singh.
Divulging the details, Vikram Jeet Duggal, SSP Patiala said that in the late evening of 22.07.2019, two siblings Jashandeep Singh (10) and Haldeep Singh (4) were gone missing from Kheri Gandhean village of Ghanaur PS and the family lodged a complaint with the concerned local police. Enormous efforts were made to investigate as to how did the kids go missing and how come they got drowned in the Narvana branch of the Main Bhakhra Canal.
All round efforts on all fronts by the investigation team led by the DSP Ghanour, Jaswinder Singh and his team resulted in the cracking of the case, said the SSP. Manjit kaur (Mother of kids) and her lover Baljit Singh hatched a conspiracy to eliminate both the innocent kids as they felt they might come in the way of their marriage in the future.
Baljit singh took the children along, on the pretext of a joyride and showing them the canal waters, where the kids would play and enjoy. As they reached the banks of the canal, Baljit Singh pushed both the kids into canal waters and left the place, leaving the innocent kids to die.
“Much investigations could not be made during the year 2020 due to lockdown and related constraints. However, the case was revisited almost three months back and the file was reopened to start the investigation afresh. Certain clinching evidences could be found during the technical data analysis and phone forensics of the accused. Lie detection was also conducted based on the needle of suspicion against the two”, said the SSP.
Finally the team could recreate the entire chain of events, connecting each and every single dot to conclude that the accused were actually the perpetrators of this sensational and heinous crime.
“Sections 302 and 120 B of Indian Penal Code have been accordingly added to the FIR 67/ 2019 of PS Khedi Gandian, District Patiala. Both the accused have been arrested and five days police remand has been given by the hon’ble court”, said the SSP.
