India’s former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Preneet Kaur, who is on tour to Britain for 10 days, today congratulated the newly constituted team of Indian Overseas Congress at London’s South Hall, Coventry and Wolver Hampton, Addressing a mammoth gathering of NRI Punjabi’s stated that the congress government established in Punjab with the help of Punjabi diaspora. The government led by Captain Amarinder Singh has made the state drugs free and given employment opportunities to the youngsters. Preneet Kaur stated that the present Congress government has inherited Rs 2 lacs crore debt and an economy that is off the track. The messy state of affairs, which SAD-BJP government has left state in, cannot be explained in words.

Preneet Kaur  stated that the Captain government formed a Special Task Force to deal with drugs and its peddlers, which not only curtailed the supply line  but also made special efforts to rehabilitate the youngsters on path of sobriety. She added that extending an helping hand to the spine of Punjab’s economy – the farmers – Captain government waived off their debts up to Rs 2 lacs whereas other states in the country have given farm loan waiver of mere Rs 50000 per farmer. She lamented that the opposition was merely involved in grinding its political axe over the issue to bring the loan waiver efforts to a halt. She added that the Captain government has procured every grain of farmers’ produce in the state.

Preneet Kaur stated that due to wrong policies of the previous SAD-BJP government in the state, 25000 industrial units went into closer, but now following the efforts of Captain Amarinder Singh, these units are being revived. She stated that true to his poll promises, Captain Amarinder Singh was giving power to industry at Rs 5 per unit.She added that besides this, in the private sector 30000 youngsters have got direct and indirect employment opportunities. Also work has been initiated on filling 15000 vacant posts in the government sector, which will continue. She added that the state run transportation PRTC, which was working in loss for the past 10 years have shown Rs 3 cr profit within first 6 months of the Congress government coming to power.

Preneet Kaur added that the Punjabi diaspora has a huge role to play in the development of Punjab. The diaspora has also carved niche for itself in the polity and society offshore.  She added that the present Congress government in state will take up the NRI related issues on priority basis.
