Keeping in mind safety of students &to ensure quality education we’ve decided to postpone JEE&NEET examinations. JEE Main exam will be held between 1st-6th Sept, JEE advanced exam will be held on 27th Sept & NEET exam will be held on 13th Sept: Union HRD Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal

After cancelling the board exams papers scheduled from July 1 to 15, due to coronavirus outbreak, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal today announced the decision to postpone the JEE Main and NEET 2020 examinations.

A panel was constituted by Union HRD minister, to check the feasibility of conducting the examinations in July, has recommended to postpone the medical entrance examination and engineering entrance examination in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.

The parents and students raised concerns about JEE and NEET examinations in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, as the medical entrance exam NEET was scheduled to held on July 26, the JEE (Mains), for admission in engineering colleges, was scheduled from July 18-23. JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), was scheduled for August 23. Students have been signing online petitions and pursuing social media campaigns, and requesting the government to postpone the engineering and medical entrance exams as well, due to the rising number of Covid 19 cases in India.

Even parents of thousands of NRI students , wants to peruse engineering or medical , earlier filed a petition in the apex court , demanding the NEET be postponement. They have noted that there are no exam centres outside India and international travel is still restricted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
