Malerkotla police cracks snatching case within hours, 2 apprehended including a juvenile ; project Nigrani bears good results-SSP

Acting swiftly on a snatching incident reported earlier today, a team of Malerkotla Police has successfully apprehended the alleged snatcher and recovered the stolen items within hours.

The incident occurred near Jarg Chowk area inside Delhi Gate locality when a bike bike-borne miscreant targeted a woman, Nirmal Kaur, and snatched her purse containing a mobile phone and Rs 2000 cash earlier this morning.

As soon as the information was relayed, a police team from the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) unit, comprising ASI Balwinder Singh, HC Gurwinder Singh, and SC Nirbhai Singh, immediately swung into action.

The cops successfully intercepted the fleeing snatchers near Khushal Basti and nabbed the alleged culprits red-handed along with the stolen purse and their scooter used in the crime.

One of the accused has been identified as Mohammed Sahil (21), son of Shakil, resident of Khushal Basti. The other accused, being a juvenile, cannot be named as per laws protecting juvenile identities. The accused has criminal records and has been handed over to Police Station City-2 for further legal action.

Malerkotla police cracks snatching case within hours, 2 apprehended including a juvenile ; project Nigrani bears good results-SSP added that a case of snatching under section 379 B has been registered against arrested accused at police station city 2, Malerkotla.

“The prompt action by the police team made it possible to catch the alleged robbers before they could disappear or pass off the stolen valuables. This will also help create a deterrent effect to curb snatching incidents,” said SSP Malerkotla, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh.

The police have appealed to the public, especially women, to remain vigilant in public spaces and immediately contact the police helpline number 112 or 181 in case of distress. Timely reporting of crimes is crucial for police to take swift action and nab criminals.
