Malpractices won’t be tolerated in the paddy procurement process – Rahul Bhandari

Coming down hard on those indulging in the malpractices, Principal Secretary of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Rahul Bhandari took action against the concerned staff of a procurement agency and arthiya after discovering discrepancies in the procurement process.

The Principal Secretary had reached Rajpura to review administrative arrangements made by the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for smooth procurement of paddy in the mandis.

Rahul Bhandari said that the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has issued strict instructions to ensure that farmers should not face any problems in the mandis. He further added that the procurement has been completed to the extent of 70 per cent, but still, he would continue visiting the mandis to ensure uninterrupted procurement of the remaining crop.

Divulging more, he said that action has been taken against the responsible staff and arthiya after the discrepancies of procuring the paddy in sacks with high humidity and without cleanliness in Rajpura were detected. Before the start of milling in the shellers from November 15, all the shellers will be inspected rigorously, added the Principal Secretary.

On this occasion Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, SDM Dr Sanjeev Kumar, Deputy Director Food Supplies Manish Narula, District Food and Civil Supplies Controller Dr Ravinder Kaur, District Market Officer Ajipal Singh Brar, district manager and members of arthiya association were present.
