Mata Gujri College enthusiastically celebrates World Radio Day

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Mata Gujri College celebrated World Radio Day with great enthusiasm in which renowned media personality Pritpal Singh Mahorana specially participated as the Chief Guest.

Director Principal Dr. Kashmir Singh said that radio is still the most important medium of communication and although technology has come a long way today, the popularity of radio has not diminished.

Explaining the importance of World Radio Day, Pritpal Singh Mahorana apprised the students about the various aspects of radio and the employment opportunities in radio.

Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication Prof. Hargunpreet Singh said that Radio has been an important medium of mass communication from the very beginning and its growing popularity would create huge employment opportunities for the youth in future.

On this occasion, prizes were also distributed to the winners of various competitions organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Rupinder Kaur and Geeta Kumari bagged the first and second places respectively in the script writing competition. Similarly in Radio Jockey competition Geeta Kumari got first place, Parleen Kaur got second place and Simradeep Kaur got third place. Ritu Rani and Lavneet Vashisht bagged the first and second places respectively in the news reading competition.

On this occasion, Prof. Dilraj Singh, Prof. Meenakshi, Prof. Bhagwant Singh, Prof. Jasmine Kaur and all the students were present.
