“Keeping in mind the inconvenience faced by the people while coming to the market, the local municipal corporation has become serious in solving this problem, forever. To cope up with the traffic problem, the municipal corporations is seriously thinking and making special arrangements for parking of vehicles in different parts of the city, for the commuters. For this, the Municipal Corporation will demolish its old quarters, near the ghass mandi and establish their a parking area. Along with this, the land of the dera lying in the back side of the AC market, the top khana gate and the defence land near Markal Colony will be used for parking. In addition to this, the Municipal Corporation is considering to use the land of the improvement trust and the fisheries department near Chandni Chowk for, parking. If it all happens, according to the plan at these four places in the city, than we will be successful in eliminating the parking problem in the interior city” said Sanjeev Bittu, Mayor Patiala Municipal Corporation.

He said “we will take approval from the general house of the corporation to consider the above proposals for the convenience of the citizens in the upcoming general house meeting to be held on 29 December 2020 and seek the clearance of these proposals.

“Mayor Sanjeev Sharma Bittu and municipal corporation Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur are constantly trying to eliminate the problem of parking in the city, so that the inconvenience caused to people by parking is eliminated forever’ said a shopkeeper of AC market car parking area.

Bittu further said that “according to the notification issued by the local bodies department, the corporation can implement the parking policy in the city. Taking a step towards parking policy, the Municipal Corporation has decided that it can provide parking facilities in its 3724 square yards land near ghass mandi. On the preparation of this potential parking, the citizens will get the big benefit of this parking to go to the adalat bazaar, qila chowk  area market. If the top khana gate opened by the defence department, it will further solve the traffic problem and it will a big beneficial for the smooth running of the traffic and  improve the traffic system of the city.

Bittu further elaborated that “the corporation will place a proposal in the upcoming general house meeting to purchase of about extra 30 thousand square yards of land adjacent to the dairy project near village Ablowal, at the government rates. The corporation currently has 257 dairies under its jurisdiction. 207 dairy operators have applied to take advantage of this project, but for the remaining dairies about 30 thousand square yards of land is needed. With this acquisition of additional land, the remaining diaries will be shifted to Ablowal and the city can will become a dung free city.”

In another proposal the municipal corporation will make a special route plan to protect the small and big river (baddi and chotti nadi)from the traffic problem during beautification. Along with this, the corporation will take a decision in the General House to give some of its land for preparing the office and lab, etc. to the company that will work on this project.

“During the General House meeting, finance and contract committee (F&CC) will discuss and seek clearance to hike the spending limit from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 95 lakh” said Bittu.

Another proposal is going to be placed in the general house to declare the area under TP Scheme No. 13, Raghubir Marg, the portion from Bhupindra Road towards to Police Post model town to be declared as commercial belt, as corporation has also issued a public notice, but no objection has been received on this in 30 days.
