Meeting to review and address the issue of unusual bird activity around Chandigarh International Airport

Manish Tewari, Member of Parliament, Chandigarh and former Union Minister, Government of India, co-chaired a meeting along with MP from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Malvinder Singh Kang, to review and address the issue of unusual bird activity around Chandigarh International Airport.

The meeting was attended by Mayor of Chandigarh H.K. Babla, Mayor of Mohali Amarjit Singh Jeeti, Deputy Commissioner Mohali, Commissioner MC Chandigarh Amit Kumar, Commissioner MC Mohali, senior colleagues from Panchkula, and officials from the Indian Air Force.

A detailed status report since the last review meeting was discussed, focusing on steps taken to keep the airport’s funnel areas sanitized and free from dumping and waste-related hazards.

It was unanimously decided to constitute a joint inspection team comprising officials from Indian Air force, Chandigarh International Airport and the Municipal Corporations of Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula. This team will conduct inspections and ensure immediate cleaning of all identified garbage and dumping hotspots posing safety risks to aircraft operations.

The next review meeting will be held after one month to assess the progress and further actions taken.
