MGSIPA organises seminar on RTI Act 2005 highlighted at World University

Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA) Punjab, Regional Centre Patiala today organised a one-day Seminar on RTI Act, 2005 at University School of Law of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Fatehgarh Sahib. This programme has been sponsored by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India. Over 140 participants including PIOs  and APIOs of Fatehgarh Sahib District, Students and Faculty of Law of University and Social Activists of District Fatehgarh Sahib joined the programme.

Vice Chancellor of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Fatehgarh Sahib Dr.Pritpal Singh, Inderbir Kaur Mann, Regional Project Director, Patiala, Jarnail Singh, Coordinator, RTI Centre, MGSIPA, Dr.Sunaina, Incharge, University School of Law, Dr. RK Sharma, Dean Research and Senior Officers of Fatehgarh Sahib District Administration including Amandeep Singh Thind, District Revenue Officer, Amarjeet Singh, SP(S),Tehsildars GurjinderSingh, Parveen Kumar Singla, Manjit Singh participated in the seminar.

The RTI experts including DC Gupta, IDAS (Retd.) and Dr. Paramjit Singh, Head & Dean, Law Department, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Fatehgarh Sahib and Yash Paul Manvi, Assistant Director (Retd.), Punjab School Education Department highlighted various provisions of the RTI Act and described as an important tool for making the administration responsive and result oriented besides ending corruption in public life.

Dr.Pritpal Singh,Vice Chancellor of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Fatehgarh Sahib while launching the programme said that the RTI Act, 2005 is a pro-people and popular enactment which has contributed in a big way to bring about transparency and accountability in the Government Departments. He encouraged the participants to equip themselves with the provisions of this Act which will be of immense help to them in day to day life.

Jarnail Singh, Course Director (RTI) MGSIPA, Chandigarh while highlighting the importance of RTI Act, 2005 programme and giving detailed presentation of  MGSIPA said that the institute has now expanded its scope of trainings under the able guidance of Special Chief Secretary, Govt. of Punjab and Director General, MGSIPA KBS Sidhu, IAS and Principal Secretary to Govt. of Punjab and Director, MGSIPA. Jaspreet Talwar, IAS. The Institute organises over 270 programmes in a year on various subjects including RTI and a pool of resource persons, experts, of eminence in various disciplines are associated with training programme.
