One of the major departments, Local Government (Local Bodies) portfolio has been reassigned from Dr Ravjot to Sanjeev Arora, while Dr Ravjot has been given charge of the NRI Affairs Department, which was earlier held by Arora.
As per available information the minor but major change in the local bodies department has come in the backdrop of the upcoming municipal corporation elections. Documents related to the change in ministerial responsibilities have been forwarded to the Governor for formal approval.
Sanjeev Arora who was earlier represented Punjab in Rajya Sabha entered the Punjab Assembly after winning the Ludhiana West byelection in 2025 and was sworn in as an MLA on June 28, 2025.He was given the ministry of NRI and Industries but later in August 2025 he was given the charge of Power after taking it from Harbhajan Singh ETO.
