Mission Admission- Harjot Bains flags off awareness van to increase enrolment in government schools

To ensure maximum enrolment of students in government schools, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains initiated the new session admission drive today by flagging off the awareness van from the District Administration Complex.

On this occasion, Harjot Bains while addressing said that 23 awareness vans will campaign in cities and villages for the next three days to increase the enrolment of students in government schools.

He said that so far only private schools have been promoting themselves, but now the education department will also be campaigning in every corner of the state to inform people of Punjab about the program and schemes of education department as well as admission process of government schools.

Harjot Bains divulged that Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has taken various decisions and commenced new policies in field of education. All such information will also be promoted through these vans.

Education Minister said that this is also the first time that the teachers have been given international level training so as to further improve the education system in government schools. The children of the common people can now also get quality education in a modern way. He said that in the first of its kind parents meeting, about 19 lakh parents participated and created history.

Harjot Bains further said that this year around 1800 new rooms have been constructed in the schools of the state and 300 new schools have been opened.  State schools will also be provided with excellent furniture by next year.

Referring to schools of eminence, he said that a portal has been launched for admission to 117 schools of eminence in the state, which will remain open till March 10. In these schools, 75 percent students will be from government schools and he appealed to the residents of the state to enrol their children in the School of Eminence so that the future of the children can be secured.

He said that in the next few years government schools will perform better than private schools in which children from needy families will be given quality education and arrangements will be made for additional coaching for higher education and competition exams.

Harjot Singh Bains said that education department and all the officers of department are making their best efforts to take the government schools to the heights.

On this occasion Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Dr. Preeti Yadav and MLA Rupnagar Advocate Dinesh Kumar Chadha, DGSE Vinay Bublani, Director SCERT Dr. Maninder Sarkaria, Assistant Director Dr. Shankar Chaudhary, District Education Officer (Sec) Prem Kumar Mittal, District Education Officer (P) Rupnagar Sangeeta Sharma, Deputy District Education Officer Surinderpal Singh, Deputy District Education Officer Ranjana Katyal, Block Primary Education Officer Manjit Singh Mavi, Superintendent Lakhvir Singh Lakha,  Surinder Rana, Kuldeep Parmar, Lakhwinder Singh, Avtar Singh, Paramjit Kumar, Balbir Singh Waraich and various other senior officers were also present.
