Once again, fuel prices in India have increased, with petrol prices rising by Rs 2.61 per litre and diesel prices by Rs 2.71 per litre. This marks the fourth fuel price hike in the last two weeks, sending shock waves across the country.

The latest hike will add pressure on households already dealing with inflation. The increase in the price of diesel will increase the cost of logistics, thereby, impacting the cost of daily essential items. Milk and bread are already selling at a higher price due to previous hikes in fuel prices

The reason for the increase is mainly attributed to the ongoing West Asian conflict between the US and Iran which has led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
