Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib, signed MoU with Ironwood Careers & Training Australia with an aim to provide international exposure to the students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture.

The project ‘International Academic & Regional Agribusiness Work Experience’ is also introduced to follow the parallel guidelines of Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) & Agro Industrial Attachment (AIA) (relating to training and education services, Master class training, study tours, on-farm training, research and development).

Online interaction was arranged between the officials of Ironwood Institute, Australia and Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib. Navtej Bal, Chief Executive Officer, Ironwood Institute and Dr. Manpreet Gill, Agri Education Consultants Adelaide, Australia, and other officials of Ironwood institute interacted with the Dr. Kashmir Singh, Director Principal of the college and Dr. Dilip Singh Kachwaya, Head of the Department of Agriculture on various aspects of MOU and its implementation. On this occasion  Jagdeep Singh Cheema, Honorary Secretary was also present and appreciated the work of Agriculture Department.

Dr. Dilip Singh Kachwaya explained that for students this MOU is basically divided into two parts, first one is academic experience and second one is industrial experience in the field of Agriculture/Horticulture. He stated that in academic experience, the students will attend regular classes for 26 weeks for 20 hours per weeks to study and receive ‘Graduate Certificate of Agribusiness’ and they will get the experience of Australian classroom study, group discussion, assignment preparation & experience to study four subjects of Agribusiness and they will receive Australian recognized certificate of ‘Graduate Certificate of Agribusiness’ on the successful completion of the study.

He informed that in Industrial experience, the students will be attached with industries to learn more about horticulture and agriculture experience through practical work. Overall this MOU will create new horizons for students of Mata Gujri College and the students will be benefited from various outcomes of MOU like students will receive Australian Govt. recognized qualification on successful completion of Graduate Diploma of Agribusiness. The students will also get the paid placements during their certificate program and they will also get Australia high tech experience in Hydroponics and Mushrooms cultivations.

Students will learn how to maintain quality standards of horticultural produce for export & learn automation in Greenhouse. Students will have big opportunity to establish a Greenhouse in Punjab to develop quality produce and it will overall improve the Agribusiness future of growth of Punjab and India. Faculty will also be benefited by academics and industrial experience by this MOU.
