MoU Signed Between Punjab Government and IIT Ropar for Setting Up AI-Based Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Lab

In a significant move towards enhancing technical education and skill development, an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) was signed today between IIT Ropar and Government Polytechnic College, Amritsar for the establishment of an AI-based Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Lab.

The event was presided over by Punjab’s Cabinet Minister for Public Works and Power,  Harbhajan Singh ETO, at IIT Ropar. In his address, the Minister emphasized that the Punjab Government is fully committed to strengthening the infrastructure of technical education and equipping the youth with future-oriented skills.

Present at the occasion were senior officials of IIT Ropar, Nominee Director and Principal Kamaldeep Kaur, members of the Skilling and Startup team, officials from Punjab Communications Department, Department of Technical Education, and faculty members from Government Polytechnic College Amritsar including Kashmiri Lal, Dr. Harpreet Singh Soch, Satish Kumar, Sumiterbir Singh, Navneet Kaur, Prabhjeet Kaur, Surinder Singh, Harpreet Kaur (GPC Bhikhiwind), and Jasbir Singh (GPC Batala).

The session commenced with a welcome address by  Aditya Maidan, Chief Liaison Officer of IIT Ropar, followed by a detailed presentation by the Skilling Team on the objectives of the CPS Lab. They explained that the lab aims to provide research collaboration, technical support, and hands-on training in new technologies to both students and faculty.

Under this MoU, joint efforts will be made to set up a modern CPS Lab at Government Polytechnic College, Amritsar. Support will be provided in research, innovation, and technical education, and skill-based education modules will be developed keeping in view industry needs. The presentation by the Punjab Communications Department also outlined the State Government’s commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship.

Principal of Government Polytechnic College, Amritsar, Davinder Singh Bhatti, extended his thanks to all the dignitaries present.

At the conclusion of the event, an open discussion was held with the guests, during which valuable suggestions were shared. A brief outline of the next steps and action points was prepared. The event concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Navneet Walia, Coordinator of the Department of Technical Education.
