NAAC Peer Team visits Government Bikram College of Commerce for assessment

Government Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala hosted the National Assessment and Accreditation Council peer team visit for a comprehensive review and affirming the institution ‘s dedication to academic quality and overall excellence according to the directions issued by The Directorate of Higher Education,Government of Punjab and under the dynamic leadership of College Principal Prof (Dr) Kusum Lata and its Coordinator Dr Vaneeta Rani on February 7th and 8th,2024.
The College Council including senior Professor Pr Ram Kumar welcomed the peer team comprising of Dr.Sitikantha Mishra (Pro Vice Chancellor,Siksha ‘O’Anusandhan University Bhubneshwar ,Orissa)Dr .Mohd.Sarosh Umar (Prof.Dept .of Computer Engineering,Aligarh Muslim University,U.P)and Dr .S.N.Venkatesh Nanjangud ,Principal,Seshadripuram First Grade College Bengaluru,Karnataka)
Day 1 of the visit started with the PPT presentation by the college principal. The team visited the college to evaluate various facets of its functioning, aligning with NAAC’s rigorous accreditation criteria.The assessment covered all the seven criterion’s including curriculum design, teaching methodologies, infrastructure, student support services and governance.Dr Ashwani Bhalla ,Deputy Director Higher Education,Punjab representing Govt .of Punjab and Dr Rajinder Kaur ,HOD ,Dept of Commerce,representing Punjabi University,Patiala also joined the team .On evening of day 1 ,the college had arranged a cultural program by the college students .
On February 8,2024 the team interacted with teachers, students, parents and alumni to obtain their perspective about the institution’s performance.The team members in their interaction with various stakeholders enquired about lab facilities ,Add on courses,most preferred subject of the students, specialised clubs for the students, marking of attendance, percentage of female students, mentoring of students,overall result %, industrial visits, availability of books in the library,the feedback provided the students and much more.
The second day of the visit concluded with report writing and exit meeting with the peer tem members.The peer team members were presented bouquets as a token of gratitude and appreciation.
The college Principal extended heartfelt gratitude to the peer team members for their thorough evaluation, observation and constructive feedback.
Dr Sitikantha Mishra (Chairperson NAAC Peer team) in his address applauded the efforts of the College Principal,NAAC Coordinator and Pr Ram Kumar for their support,dedication,Participation and hospitality .He commended the strong sense of belongingness exhibited by the alumni towards their alma mater .
NAAC Peer Team visits Government Bikram College of Commerce for assessment. The entire Bikram family expressed enthusiasm for the accreditation outcomes .The college looks forward to continuing it’s journey towards academic excellence and providing a holistic learning experience for its students.
