New block of Modi College inaugurated on 143rd Modi Jayanti

Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today organised a special Hawan Yajna on the occasion of 143rd Modi Jayanti. A week long academic and literary programmes and competitions were designed to pay obeisance to Rai Bahadur Seth Multani Mal Modi. Management Member Col. Karminder Singh and Prof. Surindra Lal inaugurated the newly constructed block of the college. This block consists of 10 rooms, 1 auditorium and ramp connecting all floors of the campus. The total constructed area is 17,000 square feet.

While remembering Rai Bahadur Seth Multani Mal Modi, College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar said that society should be thankful to his visionary spirit and the commitment to the service of humanity. He said that education is the most important indicator of development and Seth Gujjar Mal Modi was ahead of his times in establishing this temple of learning in his father’s name. Right from the beginning Modi Education Society is committed to the higher standards of education for the upliftment of needy sections of the society.

During the weeklong celebrations, different competitions were organised. In the ‘Essay writing competition’ Sunidhi Chopra stood first, Gazal Dang got second position and Gurleen Machhal secured third position in English language. In Punjabi essay writing competition, Manjot Kaur stood first, Sakeena got second and Rajveer Kaur and Ramneek Kaur shared the third position. In Hindi essay writing competition, Karan Sukhpal stood first, Chahat Chauhan got second and Gurjivanjeet Singh secured the third position.A book exhibition, special lecture on the topic ‘Religion, Philosophy and Literature: an inter-relationship’ was also organized, blood donation camp was also organised .
