Newly appointed registrar got shot in the arm; associations extended support for work

Today, Punjabi university newly appointed registrar, Prof Varinder Kumar Kaushik got a shot in the arm, when the class A, B and C associations of the Punjabi University extended support and ready to join their duties, from Monday.
“After a meeting with newly appointed registrar Prof Varinder Kumar Kaushik and the vice chancellor Ravneet Kaur IAS on April 1,2021, we , all the members of the three associations (Class A,B,C) again met and decided to extend support to the university authorities, with a condition that our protest will continue “ said Mandeep Singh Chahal, joint secretary ,class A association.
Chahal further added that , “we have decided to open the administrative block -2 of the university comprising registrar, dean academic affairs, finance officer offices on Monday –April 5, 2021, after getting assurance from the university management , to sort out our demands, in coming days. But, he further, cautioned the university management , that our protest ,peaceful dharna will continue, as per the schedule , till our demands were not met.”
Elaborating further ,Chahal added that our salary section, accounts section and GPF section, in the administrative block 2, will work only, as these are inter connected. If the university syndicate approves the budget on Monday, than we will have to work for making, transferring salaries. That’s why ,we all agree to join our duties from Monday.”
When contacted the newly appointed registrar, Prof Varinder Kumar Kaushik, he confirmed that “ on Monday, at 11.30 am , a finance committee meeting is scheduled and in the afternoon, at 3.00 pm, a syndicate meeting, especially to pass the budget, is scheduled. All the meeting will be held on online mode.”
On the other hand PUTA has already opposed the appointment of registrar and dean academic affairs, by the university vice chancellor, Ravneet Kaur, IAS. They had even wrote a letter to the university chancellor VP Singh Badnore ” to look into these new appointments made by the VC and requested him, that, any orders that are derogatory, divisive, technically and legally non-tenable and violative of the University Calendar should be declared null and void and revoked with immediate effect.”
