Nine donated medals will be awarded during the convocation of Punjabi University; each medal has its own history

Nine donated medals will be awarded in the 40th convocation of Punjabi University being conducted on February 28, 2024. These medals are given from the interest of the donation amount given by various personalities/families. These medals are source of motivation for the students.
It is worth mentioning that two medals (one to the topper in MA singing and one to the topper in MA music) are being given on the name of Late Professor Tara Singh. A sum of three lakh rupees was deposited by Surjit Tara Singh in the endowment fund of the University for this purpose.
Similarly, the former Pro Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University Dr. Ram Murthy Goyal, had given financial support to establish the ‘Lakshmi Devi Memorial Medal’ in the memory of his late mother Smt. Lakshmi Devi. This medal is being given to those student who stands first in Mathematics subject in B.A./B. Sc.
Similarly, Dr. Ajit Puri has also established ‘Dewan K.S.’ Puri Gold Medal’ in the memory of his father for the topper of M.Sc. (Forensic science). Jagjit Singh and Harsharan Kaur, Patiala deposited the amount in the name of their daughter Bibi Charanjit Kaur. ‘Miss Charanjit Kaur Commemorative Medal’ is being given to the topper of the B. Sc. (CMS) in the Department of Statistics.
Dr. Madanjit Kaur, Mohali deposited an amount of four lakh for three medals. ‘Bibi Sharanjit Kaur Memorial Gold Medal’ is being given to the topper in M.A. History, ‘Sardar Mahinder Singh Memorial Gold Medal’ for M.A. Punjabi and ‘Sardarni Variam Kaur Memorial Gold Medal’ for M.Sc. Biotechnology.

Similarly, Harpreet Kaur, Deputy Registrar (Retd.), Miss Ruby Kaur, Assistant Registrar (Verification) and Arjan Avtar Singh, Senior Assistant jointly deposited the amount for ‘S. Sarbpreet Singh Commemorative Medal’ in the memory of Sarbpreet Singh (Lali). This medal is being given to the student who excels in M.A. (Theater and Television).
Former Additional Director General of Police, Maharashtra S.S. Puri deposited money for ‘Dewan K.S. Puri Gold Medal’, which is for the M.Sc. topper in Forensic Science. ‘Trilok Singh Chitrakar Gold Medal’ is established for the topper in the M.A. (Fine Arts).
