Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has said that he welcome the possible  early release of former Congress leader  Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is undergoing sentence in the Patiala jail in a  road rage case.

Speaking to media persons at the installation ceremony of the newly appointed District Congress Committee Rupnagar President Zaildar Satwinder Singh Cherrian at Rupnagar on Thursday, he said that Navjot Sidhu is a respected leader of the party and it is a good thing that he would return home soon and should  strengthen the party .“I would like  Sidhu to be released early before January 26 and join the Bharat Jodo Yatra ”,he said

In response to a question, Raja Warring said that he has no insecurity from Navjot Singh Sidhu. He  said that the party has given a lot to a small worker like him and made him the president of Punjab Congress which is like a bonus for him.

While criticising the Punjab government for not convening the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha, he said in a sarcastic tone that this ‘change’ has been happening.

When asked about the non-participation of some Congress office bearers and councilors of Rupnagar in the installation  ceremony of District Congress Committee President Zaildar Satwinder Cherrian due to factionalism, Raja Warring said that it is not necessary that the Municipal Council President and Councilors attend every event.

Secondly, he received a call from Punjab Youth Congress president Barinder Singh Dhillon this morning and yesterday also who told that his event of marathon regarding Bharat Jodo Yatra  is going on in Amritsar today,due to which Dhillon could not reach here. It cannot be called factionalism.

Earlier,Addressing that function Raja Warring congratulated District Congress Committee president Zaildar Satwinder Singh Cherrian and exhorted him to work dedicatedly for strengthening the party by taking along all the workers.

He said that the Bharat Jodo Yatra is being taken out by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to strengthen the Congress party and this Bharat Jodo Yatra will enter Punjab through Shambhu Barrier on January 12. Yatra will be warmly welcomed in Punjab.

He sharply attacked the Punjab government and said that the ‘change’ promised by Aam Aadmi Party to the people of the state is  in before  everyone and the people of Punjab are regretting the ‘change’.

Raja Waring said that his friend and Congress leader Sidhu Moosewala was murdered during the 9 months tenure of the Punjab government and not external forces but internal forces are spoiling the environment of Punjab. Raja Warring said that the absconding accused of the Sidhu Moosewala case have been caught by the Delhi Police and whatever happens in Punjab, the Delhi Police arrests the accused. and it is possible that President’s rule will be imposed in Punjab in the coming days.

Sri Anandpur Sahib MP Manish Tewari, while addressing the function, said that the Congress party never loses elections, Only the Congressmen lose if  Congress  Is defeated . Tewari said that the Congress party needs to be united.

Former Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Rana KP Singh said that since last years, divisions are being found in the name of casteism and religion in the country and the unity of the country is being threatened . Rana KP Singh said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra will be warmly welcomed in Punjab. He said that every leader and worker of the party is respected by the Congress party.

Former Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi also attended the function for a while and returned without addressing the gathering.

NSUI state president Isherpreet Singh,Congress leaders Sukhwinder Singh Whisky, Congress leader Ramesh Goyal, Vijay Sharma Tinku, Amarjit Singh Bhullar, Pomy Soni, Dr. Gurinderpal Singh Billa, Satinder Nagi, Prem Singh ,Shiv Dayal Chauhan,Rajeshwar Lali,Karam Singh Dalla,Labh Singh,Lakhwant Singh Hirdapur,Surinder Singh Haripur,Mohan Singh Mohni,Dr Manjit Singh,Bahadur Singh Jhajj,Iqbal Singh Salapur,Bant Singh Kalaran,Sheela Narang,Darshan Sing Sandhu,Kamaljit Singh were also present on the occasion.
