Today, the chief minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann reshuffled his cabinet and changes the department of his fellow ministers.
In the latest shuffling, one of the key departments, information and public relations goes to Chetan Singh Jauramajra which was earlier with Aman Arora.
Now, Chetan Singh Jaurmajra is going to hold the charge of defence services welfare, freedom fighters, horticulture and information & public relations department.
Chetan Singh Jauramajra is representing Samana assembly constituency in Patiala district.
Similarly, yesterday the state government has appointed Malwinder Singh Jaggi, an IAS officer as secretary, information and public relations, Punjab. Jaggi also belongs to Patiala.
Another key person who is holding the charge of director media, in the chief minister office is, Baltej Pannu. Pannu also belongs to Patiala.
Ishwinder Singh Grewal, deputy director public relations department, also holds a key position in the department. He is incharge of “press” , a key wing of the information and public relations department.
Now, Patialavies to build Mann government’s image in public. All these, along with battery of officers are going to build the image of Mann’s government in public.
The office of Directorate of Information, Public Relations make wide publicity of the plans and programmes of the state government and also highlight the progress achieved in the implementation of these plan and programme.
It regularly publicizes the activities of the chief minister, government through mass media and maintains liaison with Press.
The department has been the catalyst agent in regards to decimating the official news such as press releases, messages, news with close focusing on day to day happenings, developments taking place, policies and programmes of the Government. Besides these press coverage of VIP’s visit, important day observations in the district is given wide publicity throughout the state by this office.
Also, communication is a most vital process of socio-economic development. This department adopts different modes to conduct dissemination of information and publicity activities of the department.
