NPL completes renovation project at yet another government school

The Nabha Power Limited (NPL), which operates the 2×700 MW Rajpura Thermal Power Plant, on Friday, completed the renovation project at yet another government school in Fatehgarh Sahib district, after which the school was handed over to the village panchayat.
The renovation project was undertaken at the government elementary and middle school at Bhagrana village under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives of Nabha Power limited.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer of Nabha Power Limited, Athar Shahab, said, “It is a small contribution made by NPL to create a more conducive learning environment for the school children. In an endeavour to provide better facilities to the students in the government school, NPL is supporting the local panchayats in renovating schools in various villages of Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib districts as per the requirements.”
This year NPL had adopted two schools, one at Bhagrana and the other is at Jansua, which have been renovated and there are plans to adopt more schools in the area in future.
The CEO said, “Retention and enrollment have been a huge challenge in government schools as the infrastructure is sometimes poor. However, the renovation works being done by NPL is helping the government schools retain their students and even add numbers to enrollments list.”
As part of the renovation project, NPL undertook the repairs of seven classrooms in both elementary and middle wings of the school, roof treatment in eight classrooms, laid a concrete floor in the assembly area and also constructed a pathway providing easy access to the students, reclaimed the playground area, renovated four bathrooms and two mid-day meal kitchens in both the elementary and the middle wings. Besides, a drinking water area and 150 meters of the boundary wall has also been constructed. The entire structure was also white-washed.
NPL has also undertaken various other projects in Bhagrana village. These include the construction of a concrete road connecting the govt. primary health centre which connects it to the surrounding 12 villages, village peripheral road and filling of land for construction of the grain market, which will benefit around 15 villages around Bhagrana village.
