On first day of ‘Delhi Chalo’ many farmers, journalist injured ; 6 civil surgeons put on alert

On the first day of ‘Delhi Chalo’ farmers protest, around 25 farmers, journalist are injured with multiple injuries.

Haryana Police fired tear gas,at the Shambhu, Khanauri  border between Haryana and Punjab states. Drones flew continuously over the crowd and dropped tear gas on people below. It literally rained tear gas shells through the day.

Due to this many farmers who are protesting and journalists who are covering the protest got injured. They all are shifted to the nearby hospitals.

Meanwhile, the sate health authorities has asked the civil surgeons of Bathinda, Mansa, Patiala, Sangrur, SAS Nagar (Mohali) and Sri Muktsar Sahib to remain on alert mode. They are asked to ensure the 24X7 presence of medical staff, para medical staff , emergency services, 108 ambulances under their jurisdiction.

Farmers on Tuesday morning commenced their ‘Delhi Chalo’ march to press for their demands, after a meeting with two Union ministers over their demands, including legal guarantee to MSP for crops, remained inconclusive.

Farmer organisations have put the protest on hold for today and said they will resume marching towards Delhi tomorrow. Further, the groups also said many farmers were injured today as they tried to reach the national capital.

Meanwhile, many journalist organisations-Punjab and Chandigarh Journalist Union, Patiala Media Club has condemned the Haryana police action. The journalist unions has demanded action against the erring police officials.
