On Teachers day eve teachers felicitate education minister

Appreciating the path breaking initiatives undertaken with missionary zeal to ensure a robust school education infrastructure, several teachers’ and other unions of the school education department felicitated Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla here at Sangrur on Saturday on the eve of Teachers Day.

The members of the unions including direct HM Association Punjab, BPEOs Association Punjab, Direct Recruited DPEs Association, CHT & HT Association and non-teaching staff expressed their gratitude towards cabinet minister for ensuring transparency and good governance in the school education department.

Gurpreet Kaur, English Mistress posted at Government High School, Jethewal in Ludhiana district, said that they were very thankful to the cabinet minister for the recruitment of new teachers in the department purely on merit basis.

Meanwhile, Jaspreet Singh, District Co-ordinator of ‘Padho Punjab, Padhao Punjab’ project, said that it was the visionary leadership of Vijay Inder Singla which enabled the students to compete with their counterparts from private schools and from other states as well. He further said that the main focus of the Padho Punjab, Padhao Punjab project is to strengthen the base of the students for which multiple curricular and co-curricular activities were organized for them thus ensuring their success on national and international levels.

While expressing her gratitude for online teacher transfer policy, a young teacher Razia Rani said that due to the transparent system she has been transferred online without any recommendation. She also said that she was posted at Government Senior Secondary School, Kot Badal Khan in Noor Mehal Block of Jalandhar district which was at a distance of more than 150 kms from her residence. The teacher added that she applied online for transfer and got orders of joining at Government Middle School, Roopaheri (Sangrur) purely on merit.

Lauding the reforms introduced by the present government, BPEO Gurmeet Singh said that it was the decision of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led state government to make direct recruitments on administrative post through Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) which enabled them to join directly as BPEOs and Principals in the education department. He said that it was the result of this decision that the potential of youth was being effectively tapped to enhance the quality of education in the government schools.

Naresh Gupta, a lecturer of Chemistry at GSSS Banur, said that the education minister has also ensured transparency and impartial approach in the promotions and now they were discharging their duties with utmost efficiency.

Rajni Bala who was working as SLA at GSSS Mehlan said that after the death of her husband Anil Kumar, she was given  appointment following the directions of the education minister within a short span of time. She added that the appointments on compassionate grounds in the education department are also being made speedily which provided a chance to the victim families to earn livelihood respectfully.

While speaking on the occasion, the Education Minister thanked the teachers, officials and non-teaching staff of the education department and extended his Best Wishes to the teachers on the pious occasion of Teachers’ Day. He said that apart from the policies and reforms initiated by the State government, support and hard work of the whole staff of the education department has made it possible to achieve the top position in the country. He reiterated that the Punjab government is fully committed to provide quality education in government schools for which no stone would be left unturned.
