Once again PPSC to become headless after March 24; govt invites application for recruitment of Chairman

Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is making continuous efforts to provide employment opportunities in Punjab. Under this series, applications have been called for filling up the post of Chairman of Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC).
Spokesperson of the Punjab Government Personnel Department said that eminent persons having impeccable integrity, high caliber and administrative experience can apply for the post of Punjab Public Service Commission Chairman. The last date to apply for this post is 22 March 2023.
Divulging in this regard, he said that a search committee headed by the Chief Secretary has been formed which will be considered by the High Empowered Committee chaired by the Chief Minister of Punjab after shortlisting the names from the applications received.
It is pertinent to mention here that the incumbent chairman Jagbans Singh is going to retire on March 24,2023 after attaining the age of 62 years on March 25,2023.
“As March 25, 2023 being a Saturday, the last working day of incumbent chairman will be March 24,2023” said a PPSC officer.
On October 22,2021 the Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit had administered the oath of office to Jagbans Singh as Chairman Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) in the presence of than Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
Before his joining as chairman, Punjab public service commission, the said post remained vacant for more than three months as he was appointed chairman on October 21,2022 and his predecessor Lt Gen Surinder Singh, former GOC-in-C of Western Command completed his tenure in July 2022.
