One day protest-PSPCL-PSTCL engineers up the ante against the proposed privatization of power sector

Engineers of Punjab state Power Corporation limited (PSPCL) and Punjab state transmission corporation limited has announced to participate in the upcoming one day protest  on February 3, 2021, against the proposed privatization policies of the union government.

In a communiqué to the management of the PSPCL-PSTCL management, PSEB Engineers association has announced that, “all members of the association will switch off their mobile phones from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM and will hold protest meetings across Punjab, as per call of the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees & Engineers (NCCOEEE) and all India powers engineers’ federation (AIPEF), and to express solidarity with the struggling farmers organizations.

Power engineers said that “ the Central government’s move of power sector privatization through the Electricity (Amendment ) Bill 2020 & the Standard Biding document circulated by Ministry of Power, Govt. of India. All central Trade Unions and farmers Organisations of the country are opposing the conversion of the public sector into private sector monopoly.”

One day protest-PSPCL-PSTCL engineers up the ante against the proposed privatization of power sector. Power engineers are demanding to “scrap the Electricity (Amendment) Bill-2020 and standard bidding document, withdraw process of privatization of Electricity from public sector to private companies in States and UTs, cancellation of all existing private licenses and franchises in the power sector, reintegration of all power utilities in State and UTs as existing in the case of KSEB Ltd. (Kerala) & HPSEB Ltd. (Himachal Pradesh), reintroduction of old pension scheme and scrap new pension scheme , forced retirement is not acceptable in the power sector, regularization of all contract and casual workers/ employees to avoid legal complications, as already done by the Telangana state, fixed term employment is not acceptable in the power sector, fill in the existing vacancies with a policy of Regular jobs to be discharged by regular employees only, grant of start scale of 18030/ -to new engineers in PSPCL/PSTCL.”
