One Week national level online FDP on “Novel Materials and their Applications” begins at MRSPTU

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda’s department of Physics is organizing one-week All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE),-Training and Learning Academy sponsored ATAL Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Novel Materials and their Applications”, which begins here on Wednesday.

Prof. Rabinder Nath, a renowned academician and researcher in the field of Sensors and Computer Memories, presently Senior Professor at Department of Physics, IIT, Roorkee was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

In his keynote speech, Prof. Rabinder Nath talked about the development of Novel Materials. He also elaborated about growth of semiconducting, magnetic and ferroelectric material and its miniaturization to deploy in nanotechnology.

The Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Buta Singh Sidhu in his address thanked the Chairman AICTE for providing financial assistance to conduct this FDP. He also congratulated the Department for organizing the activity.

Prof. (Dr.) Jasbir Singh Hundal, Prof. & Head of the Department welcomed the Chief Guest, the resource persons and the participants of FDP. He added that the Department offers Ph.D. (Physics), M.Sc. Physics and B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics. He further conveyed that the Department has come up as good research and development center in this region. The faculty of the Department is involved in active research in areas such as Radiation Physics, Nuclear Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, Nontechnology, Ferroelectric Ceramics, Polymer Composite Films and Theoretical Physics.

Earlier Dr. Satnam Singh Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the FDP gave introduction of the program. He informed that a total 14 resource persons from various prestigious institutions/research laboratories such as Thapar Institute, IIT Ropar, CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory Jamshedpur, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar etc. are delivering lectures in this FDP and about 200 participants from all the states of the India will attend this program.

Dr. Veena Sharma, Assistant Professor presented Vote of Thanks. She extended thanks toward Chairman, AICTE for financial assistance. At the last she thanked participants and wished them for having cheerful and enlightened sessions.
