Water testing lab coming up in Sangrur ; to accredited with NABL- Jaspreet Kaur

The Punjab Government is in the process of setting up a special laboratory at Sangrur for testing the quality of groundwater. The lab would result in confirming the quality of drinking water for the people thus saving them from various diseases caused by polluted water. Nirbhay Singh from village Chatthey Sekhwan and Darshan Singh from Akoi Sahib have disclosed that the district level laboratory would prove to be useful for residents of both the urban and rural areas.
Nirbhay Singh further added that the construction work of lab is in full swing at a site in front of the old office of municipal council Sangrur. He also said that the lab coming up as part of the Har Ghar Pani Har Ghar Safai by the Water Supply and Sanitation Department would test the water for various elements such as T.D.S., Iron, Calcium, Flouride, Magnesium, Nitrate, Sulphate, P.H. Copper, Land, Solenium, Chromium, B.O.D. and C.O.D.
Praising the initiative, Darshan Singh from village Akoi, said that the samples from different water works and houses in the District would also be tested here through modern equipment. The residents of the village thanked the State Government and the Water Supply & Sanitation Department for this novel project.
Water testing lab coming up in Sangrur ; to accredited with NABL- Jaspreet Kaur, XEN Water Supply further divulged that the lab would come up at a cost of Rs. 84.26 lakh and 70 percent of the work has been completed which would be completely over by March 2021. The XEN also added that a software LIMS (Lab Information Management System) has been readied for keeping online record of the tests to be done here. The lab would be accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).
