Here is a reminder to think twice before possibly “swiping right” on a dating app Tinder.
Today, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Patiala Varun Sharma said in a press release that in the campaign launched by the Patiala Police against the anti-social elements got success when Harbir Singh Atwal PPS, superintendent of police Investigation Patiala, Sukhamrit Singh Randhawa, PPS, deputy superintendent of police (Detective) Patiala led by Inspector Shaminder Singh in charge CIA staff Patiala arrests 3 members of the looting gang who are using the social media dating app Tinder for their illegal act.
Elaborating further Sharma added that the three accused arrested Krishan Kumar of 27 years , Surinder Singh of 25 years and Jagpreet Singh of 27 years are residents of village Rampur Channa, police station Amargarh district Malerkotla. The police have also recovered a .32 bore pistol with 4 live cartridges and 2 Kirch (Knifes) from them.
On how they rob people, SSP Sharma said , “Fateh Singh a resident of village Duladi in Nabha tehsil who is dealing with sand and gravel had lodged a complaint that he got robbed by some miscreants while he was coming from Sangrur on his two wheeler on September 3,2023. The nabha sadar police lodged a FIR number 184 under section 365, 382, 34 IPC .On further investigation, CIA Patiala got a tip off about the gang and on September 8,2023 they arrested all the three accused.”
SSP added that the accused used a fake Tinder (dating App) profile (of a female) to attract their victims (boys) as they had robbed around 25 persons, as claimed by them. They contact them on Tinder, start chatting and later call them for meeting at some secluded place , robbed them and made some objectionable videos. They threaten the person to not to inform anyone otherwise they will viral their video on social media. The accused got this idea from films, web series.
