Patiala police take lead in Punjab police state level campaign to hand over belongings

Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab  Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Wednesday reiterated that Punjab Police is one of the best police in the country and is fully capable of maintaining law and order in all aspects including security of Punjab.

Deputy Chief Minister Randhawa, accompanied by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab  Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota, was here at the Police Lines to launch the state level campaign launched by the Punjab Police to hand over the belongings of the people lying in the state police stations. Former Minister Sh. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur, Nirmal Singh Shutrana, Rajinder Singh Samana, Kulbir Singh Jira, Harinder Pal Singh Harrymann, Chairperson Punjab Social Welfare Board Gursharan Kaur Randhawa were also present.

On this occasion, . Randhawa also handed over 184 vehicles among goods worth Rs 32.5 crore related to 248 cases in Patiala district. He said that arrangements have now been made in every district to immediately hand over the goods in dowry cases to the people and Malkhanas should be vacated so that the goods of the people would not be damaged.

Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, citing it as duty of the police to bring justice to people, the police officers to ensure disposal of grievances in five days though single agency so that timely justice can be given to the public. He said that in Patiala district alone 19000 applications were pending, of which 6500 applications have been disposed off.

Randhawa said that a separate security wing of Punjab Police is being set up, which will take decisions on providing security to the VIP people, whose lives were in danger. The force will also be provided with different uniforms, training and modern weapons. He also said that arrangements were being made by the Punjab Police to provide langar, tea and water to their on-duty personnel.

Talking to reporters, . Randhawa said that such arrangements were being made by the police so that the cases of cyber crime including online fraud would be resolved within the stipulated time. He also announced to re-conduct examinations for the posts of Sub-Inspectors, which were scrapped. . Randhawa also announced Rs 2 crore for Patiala Police Line Stadium and Rs 20 lakh for Police Welfare Fund besides new vehicles for PCR.

Earlier addressing the function, . Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that the Chief Minister . Charanjit Singh Channi has given him the Home Department instead of keeping it to himself.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota assured that Punjab Police will ensure timely justice to the people.

After this I.G.  Patiala Range Mukhwinder Singh Chhina,  thanking Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and DGP Sahota, he assured that the police would perform his duty diligently and honestly.
