Patiala set up oxygen concentrator bank for post Covid patients

Keeping in view the post COVID need of oxygen of discharged patient, District Administration and Health Authorities have opened an Oxygen Concentrator Bank to give oxygen support to such patients on the valid medical prescription/recommendation.

Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner, Patiala, Kumar Amit said that it has come to the notice of the district authorities that some patients upon getting recovered from COVID, still need oxygen support.

As the oxygen supply has been controlled for judicious use of it, the District Administration in coordination with health officials, has decided to supply the additional oxygen support to such patients in the shape of oxygen concentrators.

While providing the additional details, he said that this oxygen support would only be for the patients discharged from hospital after treatment of COVID. “The patient must have a prescription from the concerned doctor that he/she need the oxygen support, indicating how many days they need it for. Further, the discharging doctor must keep a regular check on the patient and train them on how much oxygen to use, and when to reduce the flow, as excess oxygen flow can also be harmful to the patient”, said, the Deputy Commissioner.

Briefing the procedure to get oxygen support at home, he said that the patient would visit the office of RMO Dr. Mini Singla, Civil Surgeon Office, Patiala who will verify and certify that they are eligible for being issued an oxygen concentrator. RMO will apprise the patient/attendant on usage of the concentrator.
