Patiala to hold maiden Military Literature Festival -Sakshi Sawhney

The princely city of Patiala is all set to host a prestigious fair- ‘The Military Literature Festival’ for the first time. The fair is to commemorate the sacrifices of the brave soldiers who fought on the country’s borders. Disclosing this, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney said that this historical ceremony is going to be organized at Khalsa College, Patiala on January 28 and 29 and is a part of the ‘Patiala Heritage Festival’. The festival will become an eternal memory for Patialvis.

Divulging the details Sakshi Sawhney said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan had announced to expand the scope of the Military Literature Festival (MLF) at Chandigarh on December 4, 2022. He had also announced that the MLF will be organised at the district and university level across the state. In view of that the Patiala district administration has taken a special initiative to organise ‘Military Literature Festival’ at the Royal City.

To conduct the Military Literature Festival ,the Deputy Commissioner held a meeting with Lt. Gen. Chetinder Singh, AVSM, SM, VSM, retd, Lt Gen (Dr.)Jagbir Singh Cheema, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, retd and Lt Col PS Grewal of the Military Literature Festival Association.

Sawhney said that the Military Literature Festival is going to start at 10:00 am on January 28 and conclude on January 29 .

“Military Literature Festival Association has decided to organize various events including Panel Discussions, Clarion Call episodes of bravery, martial dances, equipment display by the army, wreath laying & Bravehearts motorcycle ride, archery demonstration cum competition, Army, ITBP and Police Recruitment Counselling corner are also being established. Moreover, the visitors  will also experience the best food from the famous eateries of Patiala “ added Swahney.

The Deputy Commissioner further said that the top military war heroes, thinkers, authors, historians, curators and defence experts participate in this educative event which is uniquely crafted to be presented not only to the public, but also the school children from rural areas who are treated as special invitees for the festival, so that the baton and legacy of the bravery and martial traditions are passed directly onto them.

Sakshi Sawhney further informed that on January 27 a children’s story program and an exhibition ‘Artistry’ showcasing Patiala city’s artworks including ‘Tanke Tope’ Phulkari workshop for teaching embroidery and a discussion on the published book on Patiala by Young Historian Simar Singh is going to be held at the Musafir Memorial Central State Library, Patiala, in collaboration with Pahal Patiala. Similarly on January 30, a Kavi Darbar will also be held at the Language department.
