Patient’s attendant, students, nurses of Govt Rajindra Hospital suffer due to absurd diktat issued by authorities

Recently, the Rajindra Hospital authorities has issued a absurd order in haste without assessing the consequences. The authorities has ordered the closure of the side gates of the hospital, bringing hardship to the patient’s attendants, students, nursing staff etc
As per available information, the hospital authorities have issued orders of closure of all the side gates (revolving) of the hospital after 6:00 pm which were earlier remained open for 24 hours bringing hardship for the students, patient’s attendants, nursing staff amongst others.
The main problem is being faced by attendants of patients of cardiology, neurology, gynecology, pediatrics and students, nursing staff as these departments and nursing hostel are opposite the gate on Jagdish Ashram Road or Dr Jagdish Singh Marg.
With the early closure of gate at 6:00 pm the nursing staff, doctors, students living in nearby PGs is now forced to go to Sangrur road and then came to their place of working, duty which is just opposite their hostel, PG accommodations. The shift of nursing staff changes at 7-8 pm and the side gates are now closed at 6:00 pm.
On the other hand if the patient attendants came just to hand over the medicines, eatable, clothes etc to other attendants, they are forced by the parking contractors at the main entrance, opened for 24 hours on Sangrur road, to pay the parking fees to than go inside to hand over the items or to drop or pick up someone.
Patient’s attendant, students, nurses of Govt Rajindra Hospital suffers due to absurd diktat issued by authorities . A staff member on the condition of anonymity said, we are now forced to use e-rickshaws to go our duty place by paying Rs 30 per trip which is otherwise just a road crossing from our hostel, PG accommodation.
When contacted the medical superintendent of the Rajindra Hospital, Dr Girish Sahni, he said “ the decision to close all the small gates are taken after the Kolkatta incident and a security review was done. He added that girls students doing MD has given us in writing that sometimes strange persons came through these gates. So we decided the close these side gates at 6:00 pm .” When highlighted the miserable position of patient attendants, students, nursing staff he said “we have some shortage of security staff. In coming days, new security staff is coming. After that we will depute the security staff at these side gates of the hospital and extend the closing timing from 6:00 to 8:00-9:00 pm or as per the requirement.”
