Ravneet Bittu becomes third politician shifting base from Punjab to Rajasthan

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday (August 20, 2024) announced nine candidates for bypolls to the Rajya Sabha, to be held on September 3, fielding Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu from Rajasthan.
Bittu is going to be the third politician from Punjab who is going to shift his base to Rajasthan.
Earlier Balram Jakhar and Buta Singh were two politicians who had shifted their base from Punjab to Rajasthan. These both leaders contested lok sabha elections from Sikar and Jallore in Rajasthan respectively. But, Ravneet Singh Bittu is entering the parliament house through by-pass route from Rajasthan to reach upper house.
Balram Jakhar had fought lok sabha elections from Sikar in Rajasthan in 1984 and 1991 lok sabha elections. Before that he had won the Ferozepur lok sabha seat in 1980.
Likewise, Buta Singh had fought lok sabha elections from Jallore (Rajasthan) in 1989,1991,1998,1999. Before that he remained lok sabha MP in 1962 from Moga. In 1967, 1971,1980 he represented Ropar seat in lok sabha.
Ravneet Singh Bittu remained lok sabha MP from Sri Ananapur Sahib (2009), Ludhiana from (2014, 2019) in Punjab.
Besides these, bollywood superstar from Punjab, Dharmendra served as a Member of the Indian Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Bharatiya Janata Party representing Bikaner in Rajasthan from 2004 to 2009.But he never represented Punjab in lok sabha or rajya sabha. His son Sunny Deol had represented Gurdaspur lok sabha seat from 2019-2024.
Today, along with Ravneet Singh Bittu another Union Minister George Kurian is nominated from Madhya Pradesh and former Congress leader Kiran Choudhary from Haryana.
Ravneet Singh Bittu had joined the saffron party ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha poll and contested lok sabha elections on BJP ticket from Ludhiana. But, he lost the elections. But, despite this, he was inducted into the Modi cabinet. Now, the party high command has asked him to reach Jaipur for filing his nomination papers for the upper house from Rajasthan on Wednesday.
Ravneet Bittu becomes third politician shifting base from Punjab to Rajasthan . Bittu will be contesting from the seat vacated by Congress heavyweight KC Venugopal following his election to the Lok Sabha on June 4. With the saffron party having more than two-thirds majority in Rajasthan, Bittu’s entry to the Upper House is sure.
