PCS aspirants still have to wait for PPSC to start recruitment process; one member retired, two to retire next month

Even after the appointment of chairman of Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) the PCS exam aspirants have to wait for another few months as the commission doesn’t have full strength.
Recently Jatinder Singh Aulakh has been appointed as the chairman of Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) by the state government after around ten months of the retirement of its regular chairman Jagbans Singh Powar. The commission is deferring the exams due to no regular chairman was appointed by the government.
The PPSC has a one post of chairman and five posts of members. At present beside Jatinder Singh Aulakh as chairman three members namely Gurpartap Singh Maan, Supreet Singh Ghuman and Harmohan Kaur Sandhu remained in the commission as two seats are already vacant. Recently the term of Dr Manpreet Kaur Chattwal has also ended.
Out of these three, the term of two other members are going to end next month. The term of Gurpartap Singh Maan and Supreet Singh Ghuman is ending on March 12,2024 whereas the term of Harmohan Kaur Sandhu is ending on August 19,2025. Even the term of newly appointed chairman Jatinder Singh Aulakh is going to end on January 3,2025.
As per available information the state government has not yet started the process to fill the vacant seats of commission’s members. Without its full strength the commission won’t be able to conduct PCS (executive) exam, if the government ask the commission to do it. The last time PPSC conducted the PCS exam was in 2020 and once again the waiting period is extended. There have been no exams after 2020. Many aspirants are waiting for the commission to advertise the posts.
PCS aspirants still have to wait for PPSC to start recruitment process; one member retired, two to retire next month. But, in coming days the PPSC is going to start the pending recruitment process, which was initiated by caretaker chairman and member Jamit Kaur Teji.
PPSC has already started the process to select the class A,B category officers. As the post of chairman remained vacant, the commission has to postpone the recruitment process of 06 posts of lecturer medical lab technology (group-a) (subordinate institutions) in the department of technical education and industrial training, 16 posts of principal (college cadre) (group-a) in the department of higher education, 06 posts of assistant electrical inspector (group-a) in the department of power, 07 posts of planning officer (group a) in the department of town and country planning, 21 posts of Punjab civil services (executive branch) to be filled from register A-II for recruitment process year 2018 from members of group A and group B services, serving in connection with the affairs of state of Punjab holding ministerial appointments not below the level of senior assistants.
As per available information, the commission can complete the recruitment of these posts with this strength of members. Even the process can be completed with a panel of chairman and one member. Secretary personnel of Govt of Punjab are also a member of this panel to select the candidates.
