PEDA seeks suggestions from stakeholder depts on state energy efficiency action plan

Punjab New and Renewable Energy Sources department has sought suggestions from all the stakeholder departments of the state on the State Energy Efficiency Action Plan (SEEAP) within a week.

CEO Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) Dr. Amarpal Singh urged all the departments to submit their suggestions at the earliest, while addressing a Half-Day stakeholders’ workshop on the SEEAP here at PEDA Auditorium, which was organized by the PEDA with the support of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), and the assistance of the Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).

The CEO said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government has been making concerted efforts to promote energy efficiency in Buildings, Industries, Municipalities, Agriculture, Transport and other sectors in the State. The action plan would go a long way for energy efficiency, besides, helping in reduction of carbon emissions. He also stressed on the need for the inputs from various stakeholders for an effective action plan. He urged all the stakeholders to implement energy efficiency measures so that future generations can benefit from them.

PEDA seeks suggestions from stakeholder depts on state energy efficiency action plan. Welcoming all the participants, Director PEDA MP Singh briefed about the State Energy Efficiency Action Plan. He said the aim of all departments should be to reduce the carbon intensity of India’s economy to less than 45% by 2030.

Regional Director ASSOCHAM  Ravindar Chandla expressed gratitude towards the stakeholder departments for their support and coordination in the development of the action plan. Project Managers of ASSOCHAM Kushagra Juneja and Mohit Tripathi gave a detailed presentation on the State Energy Efficiency Action Plan for Punjab, while highlighting the possibility of energy efficiency in various sectors like Buildings, Industries, Transport and Agriculture. The comprehensive report for advancing the transportation sector, implementing a program for replacing inefficient appliances in buildings, instituting BEE Star ratings and Shunya ratings for buildings, and introducing energy efficiency measures in industries, agriculture, and encouraging behavioral changes towards energy efficiency has been shared among stakeholders.

Technical Education & Industrial Training, Animal Husbandry, Health & Family Welfare, Punjab State Council for Science & Technology, Water Supply & Sanitation, Punjab Health System, PSPCL, Local Government and Planning departments’ officials also participated in the meeting and gave their inputs for the development of the Action Plan.
