Department of Physics of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organized a special lecture on the topic of “Nuclear Symmetry Energy of Finite Nuclei”. Dr. Tejbir Singh, Head of the department while welcoming the invited speaker informed that Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Research Scientist, Institute of Physics (an autonomous institute of Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India), Bhubaneswar, apprised the audience about current advances in the field of nuclear sciences. He said that it is matter of pride for the University and motivation especially for the young girl scholars that Dr. Kaur was the first batch Ph.D. student of the University. He further added that she carried her doctoral research, under the supervision of Dr. BirBikram Singh, which was recognized nationally as well as internationally on different scientific platforms and honored by the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi in the form of International travel fellowship for her scientific visit of USA.
Dr. Manpreet Kaur shared information about the current research works going on in various international research organizations world over while deliberating upon the topic. She said that these explorations are significant in order to understand and reveal the existence of elements which are built in the stars as well as solar nuclear reactions. She emphasized on the role of nuclear symmetry energy within the context of liquid drop model. Dr. BirBikram Singh presented vote of thanks at the end while expressing his gratitude for Dr. Tejbir Singh for his cooperation to organize such events. On this occasion, Dr. Preet Kaur, Dr. Yogesh Vermani, Bindiya and Manpreet Kaur were also present along with research scholars of the department of physics.
