In a sentiment as evocative as it is profound, it was observed that both daughters and trees serve as gracious dispensers of shade under the unforgiving blaze of the sun. While daughters constitute the very bedrock of a civilized and enlightened society, trees remain indispensable to the sustenance of human existence. These reflections were articulated by District Planning Committee Chairman Tejinder Mehta and noted Hindu leader and social worker Ashutosh Gautam, following a sapling-plantation initiative organised on the occasion of the 15th birthday of Jalseerat Aman, daughter of their close associate and social thinker, Aman Arora.

The observance of Van Mahotsav was orchestrated under the aegis of the Social Empowerment Welfare Association (SEWA), helmed by Ashutosh Gautam, with Tejinder Mehta gracing the occasion as the distinguished guest. Marking the celebration, fifteen shade-bearing saplings were planted in the vicinity of Sirhindi Gate, symbolically intertwining festivity with environmental stewardship.

In their respective addresses,  Mehta and Gautam underscored the pressing imperative of ecological preservation in the face of an increasingly beleaguered environment. They exhorted citizens to embrace the practice of commemorating their children’s birthdays through the planting of trees—an endeavour that not only fosters an intimate communion between the younger generation and nature but also inculcates a heightened consciousness of environmental responsibility. They further assured that any resident desirous of adopting this noble practice would be furnished with saplings free of cost. In a gesture of tangible support,  Mehta also pledged the provision of fifteen tree guards to the organisation.

Expressing his gratitude, Aman Arora remarked that celebrating his daughter’s birthday with a message so intrinsically aligned with societal good and ecological harmony was, for him, a matter of immense pride.

Among those who partook in the plantation drive were Varinder Gandhi, Saurav Sharma, Vinod Bali, Amit Sharma, Kushal Chopra, Chintu Kakkar, Amarjeet Bhatia, Nikhil Kaka, Rajinder Singh, Narinder Kumar Babla, Anmol Chopra, Amritpal Aman, Aman Arora, and Surmeet Kaur.
