Plastic Pollution is damaging Natural resources-Zora Singh

MANDI GOBINDGARH-‘Plastic Pollution is not only harmful for human beings but it is also damaging our precious natural resources’, said Desh Bhagat University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh. He was addressing the students on the program being held on Environment Awareness at DBU Campus. He emphasized that it is need of the hour to protect the environment from global warming.

Giving more details Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur briefed that Desh Bhagat University celebrated World Environment Day programs in collaboration with Hara Punjab Khara Samaj (an NGO working for environmental protection) with full enthusiasm. The theme of the event was ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’. The students of agriculture and life sciences and other faculties actively participated in it.

During the program the students visited the surrounding areas and made the people aware about the safety of Environment and also encouraged them to minimize the use of plastic.  The students along with the staff members planted saplings at several places. The celebrations included, recital of poem for the future generation, talk and PPT presentations on the theme by students.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh stressed making the campus free of plastic and focused on utilization of biodegradable plastic. Registrar Dr Khulbhusan addressed the students and motivated to plant more and more trees and focused on sustainable development.

Director Faculty of Education Dr. Surjeet Patheja, , Dr. H. K. Sidhu, Piyusha Sharma and HoD’s of different departments were also present at the occasion.
