PM goes back without paying tribute to National martyrs, laying foundation stones at Ferozepur

Today Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Punjab’s Ferozepur but has to return back without paying tribute to national martyr’s Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev at National Martyrs Memorial, Hussainiwala, where all three martyrs were cremated on the banks of Sutlej River.

As per available information, today morning the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi landed at Bathinda from where he was to go to the National Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala by helicopter.  Due to rain and poor visibility, it was decided that the Prime Minister would visit the National Martyrs Memorial via road. Around 30 kms away from the National Martyrs Memorial in Hussainiwala, when the Prime Minister’s convoy reached a flyover, it was found that the road was blocked by some protesters. The Prime Minister was stuck on a flyover for few minutes and then he decided to go back to Delhi. After his decision to go back to Delhi, his cavalcade turned back from the flyover and the prime minister proceeded back to Bathinda via road. On reaching Bathinda, he took his flight back to national capital.

The prime minister was schedule to lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth more than Rs 42,750 crore in Punjab and to address a rally at Ferozepur.

But he returned back without paying homage to the martyr’s, laying foundation stones of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway; four laning of Amritsar – Una section; Mukerian – Talwara New Broad Gauge railway line; PGI Satellite Centre at Ferozepur and two new medical colleges at Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur and addressing a gathering at a rally.

As per the proposed plan, projects-the Greenfield Expressway will connect key Sikh religious sites at Sultanpur Lodhi, Goindwal Sahib, Khadoor Sahib, Tarn Taran and the holy Hindu ne of Vaishno Devi in Katra. The expressway will also connect key economic centres like Ambala Chandigarh, Mohali,Sangrur, Patiala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Kathua and Samba in the three states/UTs of Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.
