The persistent efforts of BJP Rupnagar District President Ajayvir Singh Lalpura against illegal mining have yielded a significant impact. Following his relentless campaign, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has taken cognizance of the issue and sought a response from the Punjab government.

The PMO has written to the Punjab Chief Secretary, asking for appropriate action of the situation regarding illegal mining. This action was taken after Lalpura wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 18, requesting an investigation into the grave issue.

Earlier, Ajayvir Lalpura had exposed illegal mining through a Facebook Live session from the Agampur bridge at midnight. The video clearly showed how the mining mafia was illegally extracting the precious sand from rivers while the administration remained indifferent.

Lalpura had previously written letters to the Punjab Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, SSP Rupnagar, and the Deputy Commissioner, but received no response. He stated, “I am shocked that not a single officer in the state government paid attention to my complaint. But I had complete faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the PMO acted on my complaint immediately.”

“I Am Not One to Stay Silent – This Is My District, My Homeland”

Ajayvir Lalpura made it clear that he is not among those who sit back and watch. He said, “This is my birthplace, my district, and I will not let it fall prey to illegal mining. If the mafia and local administration do not put an end to this loot, I will not let them sleep peacefully.”

He further added, “During the Congress rule, parachute leaders looted Rupnagar, and now the new government is doing the same. But the people will no longer remain silent.”

Warning to the Mafia, Corrupt Leaders, and Administration

He said, “If illegal mining is not stopped immediately, I will take to the streets to put an end to it.”

With the PMO’s intervention, pressure is now mounting on the Punjab government. Will the Chief Minister take strong action, or will this illegal loot continue unchecked? The answer will unfold in the coming days. However, the people of Rupnagar now have hope that large-scale action might soon be taken to protect their district.
